The year 2020 started with hope of great promises for the world and Nigeria in particular, only for that to be dashed,
to be later engulfed in a pandemic. We are all living witnesses to the health challenges facing our country, and the
world as a whole: Coronavirus pandemic referred also to as Covid-19 reared, its ugly head to put economic and social
activities to a halt.
Like a thief in the night, the virus which started somewhat like an ordinary outbreak spread from China, to parts of
Asia, and then to Europe and America. As it continues to ravage the world, America, Brazil, Russia, Italy, Spain and
United Kingdom were harder hit than the country of origin, China.
Nigeria was not spared from the pandemic. Since the first index case was reported in the country with the entry of an
Italian suspect, Nigeria has no longer been the same. President Muhammadu Buhari had to first impose lockdown on its
principal commercial and political cities, Abuja and Lagos, and later Ogun state when the reality of the pandemic dawned
on us.
We have as our cover, COVID-19 a virus that shut down the world. We also treated from our sports department, how the
sports world also came to a standstill as a result of the pandemic. While Nigerians were observing the lockdown with its
challenges, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Alhaji Bello Muhammad and his team are conducting a great assignment
