Edition 8: Insecurity: Nigeria at Crossroads

Permit me to once again welcome the esteemed readers and advertisers of our magazine (both print and online) to the New Year. I want to specially thank you for your patronage and faithfulness which we will hopefully rely on in the New Year, and beyond.

As I noted earlier, 2020 is a significant year, because apart from being a brand new year, it marks the beginning of a new decade. We took this unique development into account in packaging an edition of the magazine that stands out from the rest and in compliant with the time. Apart from insecurity in the land which is taking a front burner in national discourse, and which of course we have as our cover story, other notable reports include the change of baton in Imo state resulting in Senator Hope Uzodinma taking over from Emeka Ihedioha at Government House Owerri; and our interview with a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-Senator Bima Muhammad Enagi from Niger State, who spoke elaborately on the Executive/Legislature relationship, among other issues. There is also an interview with the Emir of Karshi in the Federal Capital Territory, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Ismaila who spoke on many issues of great interest.

On the international scene, there is the UK-Africa summit which preceded Brexit, and which attracted many world leaders to London, including President Muhammadu Buhari: the Tokyo Olympics for which Japan is trying everything possible to make it a showcase; the power tussle between the Republicans and Democrats over the failed attempt to impeach President Donald Trump.
