Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and Future Assured have lightened the burden of Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo by donating medical supplies worth millions of naira to the Centre

The above quotation by Confucius, the great Chinese philosopher can best describe the generosity and milk of human kindness that propelled Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and Future Assured to look towards Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo. The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by Emeka Offor, Chairman Chrome Group in collaboration with Future Assured, the NGO of the First Lady Aisha Buhari on Thursday, June 11, donated medical supplies to the Centre.

The medical supplies worth $380, 000 donated to the Medical Centre was meant to boost healthcare delivery at the Centre. According to Mr. Chris Ezike, Chief of Staff to Sir Emeka Offor, the 40 feet container load of medical equipment was meant to boost healthcare delivery especially within this Covid-19 period. He further stated that the Foundation has been intervening in both health and educational services especially in marginalized communities. The choice of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, Ezike said, was the initiative of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, wife of the President. He assured that the hospital will benefit from another round of supplies soon.

“At the outbreak of COVID-19 we ordered for medical supplies which we suspect would be useful and soon we will take delivery of the supplies and FMC Jalingo will be one of the beneficiaries,” he further said. The wife of the President and initiator of Future Assured, Aisha Buhari represented by Hon. Kabiru Dodo, former member of Taraba State House of Assembly appealed to the management of FMC Jalingo to make judicious use of the medical equipment.

According to Dodo, the collaboration between Future Assured and Sir Emeka Offor Foundation was based on shared vision and mission to serve humanity. “Nigeria must be healthy because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation”, says Dodo. While receiving the consignment on behalf of Governor Darius Ishaku, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Anthony Jellason commended the philanthropic gesture of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and Future Assured, describing the donation as timely. He expressed deep appreciation of the governor and the state government for the wonderful gesture.

According to the deputy governor, “the equipment and supplies are so many that I don’t know how to thank Sir Emeka Offor and the First Lady enough. Apart from giving us such a large quantity of equipment, they equally went ahead and brought it to us. We are very grateful. These huge gifts will remain indelible in the minds of Tarabans”. The governor called on the management of the hospital to make good use of the materials for the good of the people of the state.

In his remark, the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Innocent Vakkai thanked the Emeka Offor Foundation and Aisha Buhari’s Future Assured for the donation, saying it will help the Centre to achieve its vision of efficient service delivery to the people of Taraba State. In response, the Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Aisha Adamu said the donation would help them to establish the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital. She expressed happiness that the medical supplies would strengthen the capacity of the hospital in terms of service delivery. “These medical equipment will not only boost our capacity, but activate our isolation unit with the provision of ventilators and Personal Protective Equipment,” she said.
