Edition 21: NEW DAWN IN CROSS RIVER - Gov Otu’s Roadmap To Oil Producing State

Since that faithful day of Sunday, the 15th day of January, 1956 when Oloibiri oilfield was discovered in the country after over 50 unsuccessful years of oil exploration, the golden product have remained the livewire of the nation’s economy. Some states in the country that nature endow the golden resource have been reaping the fruit of their special gift through enjoyment of the 13% derivation from the federal government through revenue accruable from the product.

To join the league of states enjoying the bounty, many states have begun the search for the golden fruit in other to join the elite league. Cross River State, the “Peoples’ Paradise”, is no exception. The coastal state which was once a member of the elite club, lost such privilege through a Supreme Court judgement that ceded the oil wells which have been under contention to their neighbours in Akwa Ibom state. Not resting on their oars, the state is bouncing back to join the status of oil producing states through the resilient effort of the current administration in the state, ably led by their workaholic and ebullient Chief Executive Officer, Senator, Prince Bassey Otu.

Prince Otu is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the coastal state returns back as an oil producing state before the end of his first term in office as the Governor of the state.
